What do you need to update your Visa in Nepal?

Gather the required documents:

Prepare the necessary documents for updating your visa. The specific documents may vary depending on the type of visa you currently hold and the type of update you are seeking. Generally, you may need:

  • Completed visa application form
  • Valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity
  • Current visa
  • Recent passport-sized photographs
  • Supporting documents related to the update (e.g., employment letter, admission letter for study visa update)

Determine the appropriate authority:

Identify the relevant authority responsible for visa updates. In Nepal, visa extensions and updates are handled by the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or the Immigration Office in Pokhara.

Visit the immigration office:

Go to the designated immigration office, either in Kathmandu or Pokhara, depending on your location and convenience. Carry all the required documents with you.

Apply:

Submit your visa update application along with the supporting documents at the immigration office. Ensure that the application form is completed accurately and legibly.

Pay the necessary fees:

Pay the applicable visa update fees as determined by the immigration office. The fee amount may vary depending on the specific update you are requesting.

Biometric data and interview (if required):

Depending on the nature of the visa update, you may be required to provide biometric data (such as fingerprints) or attend an interview. Follow the instructions given by the immigration office in this regard.

Wait for processing:

Allow the immigration office to process your visa update application. The processing time may vary depending on the type of update and the workload of the immigration office. It's advisable to inquire about the estimated processing time during your visit to the office.
